The Kingdoms of Magic Book 4 Excerpt

Pirate Captain Jamison, on the deck of his ship, sees the enemy through his telescope and says with intrigue, “Most of the ships are anchored pointing towards the island between the Cove of the Sirens and Isle of Isis.  What a tragic mistake for a Naval Commander.”  He looks at his pennons and sees the wind is right.  He gives the signal to start to all his ships and the others under his command – those of the Jade Princess and the Fantasy Princess.  There are 20 small sail boats laden with wood and oil.  He has them lit and sent toward the Skavian ships and boasts, “They won’t be able to turn around in time to stop the sail boats, even with warning from the spotter boat.  We’ve caught them cold!” . . .
Now Captain Jamison brings his ships in closer and gives orders for the catapults on all the ships under his command to be fired.  The combined fleets have forty catapults loaded with big clay urns filled with stone and oil.  Each is lighted and fired, in rotation on each ship.  As soon as one is fired, it is re-cocked, loaded, lighted and fired again.  A hail of fire balls streaks through the sky directly toward the Skavian ships.
