The Kingdoms of Magic Book 6 Excerpt

Daleana is standing in the garden by a fountain that has a tall granite sculpture of King Zurich in the center.  There are statues of Cherubs, Fairies and other creatures surrounding the base of the statue.  They are all flowing water into the fountain at different angles.
There are beautifully colored flowers of all kinds that saturate the landscape, arranged in circles, squares and triangles with the greatest of care.  Daleana puts her hand under one of the Cherubs and catches some water in her hand.  She puts it on her face.  The servant brings the Boson over to her and leaves.  He looks at her and asks kindly, “'Ow can I 'elp?"
Daleana turns to him sadly wiping her eyes and asks in turn, “Did you know Harlow before this?”
The Boson answers, “Aye, we worked together for many, many years on the ship.  We were very close mates.  Best friend before ‘e disappeared.  I never 'ad a best friend afore that.  ‘E was the best at 'is craft and a very fine man.  That’s 'ow I knew 'oo ‘e was.”
Daleana asks, “Did you read his note?”
The Boson answers, “Aye. An’ I can tell you.  If ’e tol’ you ‘e loved you, ‘e did. An’ no other.  Before ‘e was lost at sea, we would go to the taverns when we could, but ‘e would not mess around with any of the floozies there.  An' there were more than a few that wanted ‘im.  I thought it kind of strange, I did.  Now it makes sense.  ‘E was holding a torch for you.  An' ‘e was not one to boast or brag.
Everyone on the ship cared for ‘im.  An’ if there was a mate 'oo needed somethin’, ‘e was there to 'elp.”
